Monday to Friday 9.00am-17.00pm – 35 hrs per week

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT professional to join our busy in-house IT team at Sumitomo Electric Europe Ltd at our head office in Elstree.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual who has a real passion for digital and web technologies and can support our IT Manager with technical service requests from our employees based onsite and remotely across Europe. Primarily you will be the first point of contact for our Italian Office and will manage queries related to the Microsoft applications, Citrix, SAP B1 along with general network issues.

As Assistant IT Manager, you will deputise for the IT Manager and lead on specific IT projects, which will include reviewing our Company’s IT systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, and then project managing the changes from the planning stage to implementation.

Your duties will involve all aspects of IT including:

  • PC & Server maintenance and configuration
  • systems backup, monitoring and reporting
  • software/hardware and access management set up
  • management and maintenance of WordPress internet and intranet sites
  • consulting with service providers to resolve issues and improve IT services.

Due to the nature of the role, you may occasionally be required to work out of hours, and you will be required to travel to our Italian branch office.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • experience of working in an IT role for a minimum of 5 years
  • great leadership and planning skills with previous experience of project management
  • confidence to communicate clearly with all levels of employees and different cultures
  • good organisation skills with the ability to effectively manage your workload to meet targets and timescales
  • excellent problem-solving and great attention to detail skills
  • knowledge on general PC hardware, data centre/Windows 2016/2019 server and software
  • experience in the use of – Windows 10/11, SAP B1, Microsoft Office Applications (Office 2016/Office 365, Excel macros/SQL and Exchange 2016), Adobe, HTML, CSS, WordPress, Hyper-V, Veeam and Failover Clusters, VoIP Phone systems, Meraki systems, MFA’s (DUO) and Email Security (Barracuda)
  • a good understanding of Azure/Active Directory and an ability to configure GPOs
  • educated to at least HND level in IT or hold an equivalent qualification.
